Spartans Winning Streak Snapped

The University of Dubuque Women's Soccer team seen its six game winning streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon on the road at St. Catherine's University. The Spartans 1-0 loss to St. Kate's came after a five game home stand in which they outscored their opponents 16-5. UD is now 6-1-0 on the season.

The University of Dubuque men's golf team opened their own fall invitational on Saturday with a record breaking round of 284. The Spartans white team is in third place overall (308) of the 18 teams competing in the two day tournament held at Dubuque Golf and Country Club in Dubuque.

Spartans Rally on Road

The University of Dubuque football team dug themselves a giant hole to begin on Saturday night against the Stevens Point Pointers after turning the ball over in three out four of their first possessions in the game. The Spartans in a blink of an eye were down 0-21 to the host Pointers in the opening quarter of play. UD responded by holding the Pointers to just one touchdown in the final three quarters and outscored them 28-10. As time ran out, the Pointers captured the victory by a slim margin of 31-28 at home.

Men's Tennis Set for IIAC Individual Championships

The University of Dubuque Men's Tennis team is set to compete at the 2013 Iowa Conference Individual Tournament on Friday, September 20th and Saturday, September 21st. The 2013 championships are hosted by Central College.

Men's Soccer Loses 1-0

The University of Dubuque Men's Soccer team once again found themselves going toe-to-toe with one of the top teams in the region on Friday night. The Spartans 1-0 loss to North Park University was the fourth one goal loss in just seven games played. UD is now 1-5-1 on the season.

The University of Dubuque Women's Soccer team is off to the best start in school history after another victory on Wednesday night. The Spartans rallied back from a 1-0 deficit at half to win 2-1 over North Central (IL). UD is now 6-0-0 on the season.

The University of Dubuque volleyball team was hoping for a fourth consecutive victory on Wednesday evening in front of a large crowd in Stoltz Sports Center, but the Loras Duhawks captured the Iowa Conference opener for both teams by a 3-0 score (25-23, 25-19, 26-24).

Werkheiser Named IIAC Volleyball Performer of the Week

University of Dubuque senior Morgan Werkheiser (Stockton, Ill./Stockton) has been named IIAC Volleyball (Defensive) Performer of the Week. Werkheiser finished the week with 62-digs in 13 sets as the Spartans went 3-0.

Spartans Continue to Climb in Polls

The University of Dubuque Women’s Soccer team once again moved up two spots in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division III North Region Poll with their #6 ranking this week. The Spartans also received 29 points in the D3soccer.com Top 25. UD is one of 21 remaining undefeated teams in all of NCAA DIII Women’s Soccer.

Spartans to Host 5th Annual Men's Golf Invitational

The University of Dubuque will be hosting their 5th Annual Men's Golf Invitational on Sept. 21-22 at Dubuque Golf and Country Club in Dubuque. Founded in 1898, the Dubuque Golf and Country Club is one of a very select few private country clubs west of the Mississippi that are over 110 years old.

Men's Golf Second at Clarke Fall Classic

The Spartans men's golf team placed second at the Clarke University Fall Classic and were led in scoring by a pair of Spartans who placed sixth, Eric Wolfe and Mitchell Sobotta both finished with a total of 150 over the two day meet which had 76 competitors.

Men's Basketball Performs Community Service

The University of Dubuque Men’s Basketball team and coaching staff spent its Thursday afternoon helping the city of Dubuque clean-up the historic Port of Dubuque area. The 2013 Iowa Conference Tournament Champion Spartans spent the afternoon pulling weeds and laying mulch near the National Mississippi River Museum.

The University of Dubuque Women's Soccer team improved to 5-0 on the year with a 1-0 victory over Dominican University. The Spartans 5-0 start matches the 2002 team for the best start in school history. UD finished with a 26-6 lead in shots and 15-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Women's Cross Country Takes Ninth at Les Duke Invite

The University of Dubuque Women's Cross Country team was finally able to get their season started after having the first scheduled race of the year cancelled because of heat. The Spartans came ready to run at the Les Duke Invitational hosted by Grinnell College taking ninth place in the 12 team field. The top finisher for UD was Brenda Nava in 27th place with a time of 24:36 on the 6K course.

The University of Dubuque Men's Soccer team picked up its first win of the season on Saturday afternoon at home against Illinois Wesleyan. The Spartans 3-1 win over IWU was the 53rd for Head Coach Brad Johnson making him the winningest coach in the programs 13 year history. Dubuque is now 1-3-1 on the year.

The University of Dubuque women's tennis team began Saturday morning with a sweep of doubles winning #2 and #3 doubles to take an early match lead 2-1 over the Buena Vista University Beavers before losing the match 3-6. Stephanie LoCasto and Marissa Rutenbeck at #2 doubles won 9-7 after being down early in the match. Alexandra Dixon and Janine Wegner captured #3 doubles 8-2.
