Spartans Winning Streak Snapped

SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA - The University of Dubuque Women's Soccer team seen its six game winning streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon on the road at St. Catherine's University. The Spartans 1-0 loss to St. Kate's came after a five game home stand in which they outscored their opponents 16-5. UD is now 6-1-0 on the season. 

The Spartans held a 20-11 advantage in shots with Alexandra Watkins (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) and Katie Lynn (Fox River Grove, Ill./Barrington) each registering six shots. Watkins put three shots on goal. 

Tiffany Duncan (Hartford, Wis./Hartford Union) saved a season high nine shots while allowing one goal. 

After a scoreless first half, UD had a 11-6 lead in shots and 4-2 advantage in corner kicks in the second half. St. Kate's scored in the 58th minute for the games only score. 

UP NEXT: The Spartans will travel to Monmouth College (4-2-0) on Wednesday, September 25th at 4:30 pm. UD will end the week with its first Iowa Conference match of the year when they host defending IIAC Champion Loras on Saturday, September 28th at 1:00 pm.
