2018 was a historic fall season for the after winning their first team title at any event in program history and finished tied for the 2018 American Rivers Conference Women's Golf Championship, but lost in a tie break on the final day.
The first team title in school history came after shooting a two day total of 655 in the Luther College Invitational. UD's Megan Gille won the tie break to claim medlaist honors after firing a score of 158.
It was a remarkable performance by the Spartans at the A-R-C Championship, who finished in last in the conference two years ago. The playoff was held after 54 holes as persistent rain made course conditions unplayable for the fourth round. Central, with the win, earns the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship.
The individual championship also was decided in the playoff. Central's Brittany Coppess and UD's Daniela Miranda were tied with three-round totals of 231. Coppess parred the first playoff hole (18th), while Miranda bogeyed. The Dutch and the Spartans both had team totals of 980 after 54 holes. All five players teed off and the four low scores were tabulated. Central's low-four scored 22 strokes, while Dubuque's low-four totaled 24. The rest of the team standings were Wartburg in third (1000), Luther fourth (1015), Simpson fifth (1027), Buena Vista sixth (1103), Loras seventh (1151), Nebraska Wesleyan eighth (1192) and Coe ninth (1332).
Miranda's tournament score of 231 came on rounds of 74-80-77. Joining her on the all-conference team were teammates, Megan Gille who finished seventh with a 245 and Madison Bowers who finished 10th with a score of 250.
