The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced today its major football awards and All-Conference team for the 2012 season. University of Dubuque senior quarterback Wyatt Hanus has been named the 2012 IIAC Football Offensive Most Valuable Player.

Women's Cross Country Regional Results

The University of Dubuque Women's Cross Country team traveld to St. Olaf College for the 2013 NCAA Division III Central Region Championships. Senior Beth Michaelis led the Spartans with a time of 25:03.2 on the 6k course to finish in 96th place. UD finished 22nd of 28 teams.

The University of Dubuque football battled their way back and tied for 2nd in the Iowa Conference on Saturday, but it wasn't easy for the Spartans. UD won the game 34-28 over Buena Vista.
Spartan Men Place 24th at NCAA Division III Regional

The University of Dubuque Men's Cross Country team returned to St. Olaf College for the 2013 NCAA Division III Central Region Championships. The Spartans finished 24th of 27 teams. All seven runners competing for UD were freshman. Jordan Murray paced Dubuque with a time of 28:49.5.
McDonald and McKee Land on First Team All-IIAC

Earning First Team All-Iowa Conference for the Spartans were seniors Nick McDonald and Sam McKee. McDonald is a three time First Team honoree while it is the first time for McKee.

Four Spartans Named Academic All-District

For the second consecutive year the University of Dubuque Football team had four student-athletes named to the Capital One Academic All-Region 8 Football Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Seniors Wyatt Hanus, Miles Hookstead, and Stephen Vassalotti along with junior Tyson Carter were each named to the First Team for UD.

The University of Dubuque Wrestling team made the short trip down Loras Blvd on Saturday morning for the Loras College Invite. Three-time DIII National Championships qualifier Ryan Warczynski finished in fourth place in the 157 lbs. Gold division. Freshman Oliver Newton won the 197 lbs. Silver title.
