Hager Named First Team Academic All-District

DUBUQUE, IOWA - University of Dubuque Men’s Soccer student-athlete Peter Hager (Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 8 Division III First Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). First Team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-American Team ballot, where first, second, and third team All-American honorees will be selected later this month.

In 2012, Hager has scored one goal and assisted on another while defending the opposition’s biggest offensive threat on the defensive side of the field. As a team, UD has four shutouts and a 1.24 goals against average. Only a sophomore, Hager has already been chosen as a team captain and has started every game in the last two years.

An accounting major, Hager owns a cumulative GPA of 3.94. He has been named to the Dean’s List both semesters at UD. He has also participated in the UD Park Clean-Up Project each of the last two years.

The Dubuque Men’s Soccer team earned the #2 seed in the Iowa Conference Tournament with a 5-2 record in league play. Overall the Spartans finished with an 11-6-1 record and have been ranked in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) North Region Poll for seven straight weeks. UD peaked at #4 in the October 4th Poll. The Spartans have also been ranked in all three of the NCAA Regional Polls.
