DUBUQUE, Iowa - Producer, pianist, and composer Neil Berg will return to Heritage Center with Neil Berg's 104 Years of Broadway, presented by the Dubuque Arts Council, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2025, in John and Alice Butler Hall, Heritage Center, University of Dubuque.
Direct from New York and featuring Dubuque native Rita Harvey, 104 Years of Broadway recreates the greatest moments from the finest shows of the past century. Berg will share the songs and the stories behind the music that changed the world. This sequel to Berg's Broadway revue features a cast of stars from Broadway's greatest musicals.
"We are excited to have Neil Berg return to again bring Broadway excellence to Dubuque. He and his wife, Rita Harvey, are local favorites and always share their musical talents and knowledge of the history of the great American composers that made Broadway shine," said Dr. Hunter Fuerste, vice president of the Dubuque Arts Council Board of Directors.
Berg is the composer/co-lyricist of the musical The 12, which had a successful pre-Broadway tryout to critical and audience acclaim at Goodspeed Opera House. It is anticipated to have a Broadway opening in the 2025-2026 season. Berg is currently in development as the composer of the Broadway-bound musical version of My Cousin Vinny, based on the iconic movie. His latest musical, The Sabbath Girl: The Musical, had a multiple-week run Off-Broadway at 59 East 59th Theaters. Berg's new commissioned musical, How My Grandparents Fell in Love, will open this July at The NJ Rep Theater. He is the composer of the popular musical version of Grumpy Old Men: The Musical, based on the Warner Brothers movie classic starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau.
A Broadway actress, singer, and performer, Harvey starred in the role of Christine Daae in the Broadway production and National Touring production of Phantom of the Opera. She also performed as Hodel in the Broadway production of Fiddler on the Roof opposite Rosie O'Donnell, Harvey Fierstein, and Alfred Molina. Additionally, Harvey is the principle soprano in Neil Berg's 104 Years of Broadway. Her one-woman show, Heart Like a Wheel: The Music of Linda Ronstadt, celebrates one of the most beloved and versatile pop singers of the past five decades.
