Dear University of Dubuque Community,
Due to the forecasted winter storm, classes tomorrow, Thursday, February 4, 2021 on the University of Dubuque’s main campus will be held remotely at their regular time throughout the day versus in-person. Students must check Moodle and email for further instructions on the format of their classes.
Flight blocks at the Babka Aviation Learning Center and the aviation shuttle may be impacted. Aviation students must check with their instructors about flight times and any delays or cancellations.
The Marge Kremer Little Spartans Childcare Center will be closed.
The Smeltzer Dining Hall (in Peters Commons) and the Health Bar (in the CRWC) will not be open for dinner.
The Cyber Café (in Heritage Center) will be closing at 7:00 p.m.
All will be re-opening tomorrow (Friday) with normal hours.
Myers Library and the CRWC will open at Noon.
Instructors for the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program will contact students on the class schedule.
Main campus undergraduate and graduate evening classes as well as LIFE – Dubuque and LIFE – Cedar Rapids evening classes will be held remotely. Students must check Moodle and email for additional information on the format of their classes.
LIFE – Tempe and LIFE – Meridian classes will meet as scheduled.
Essential personnel will provide food service and other amenities to on-campus residents as well as to keep our campus safe. We appreciate their commitment to service.
The work schedule for remaining employees may be impacted. Supervisors have the flexibility to have staff work remotely. The health and safety of the campus is of the utmost importance.

Delays and Cancellations
Inclement weather can sometimes make it necessary to delay the start of classes, cancel classes, or close the University of Dubuque campus and LIFE site in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to ensure the safety of our students, faculty, and staff. The Office of the President, in consultation with appropriate University administrators, makes the decision as soon as possible to delay the start of classes, cancel classes, or close the campus.
In general, the following timelines will apply:
- Any decision to delay the start of classes or campus opening will be made by 6:00 a.m.
- Cancellation decisions may be made by 6:00 a.m. if conditions warrant.
- If there is a delay, the decision to then cancel would be made by 7:30 a.m.
- If an early class release or campus closure is necessary, the decision would be made by 12:00 noon.
If there is a delayed start, the first classes of the day will be those immediately following the delayed start time.
When the campus is closed, only essential personnel should report to work.
