The three week academy is designed to provide the participant with a great experience, and prepare you for a successful track and field season. The academy begins on January 12th.

Spartans Win in Overtime

The University of Dubuque Men's Soccer team is becoming quite familiar with overtime sessions after going into OT for the third straight game and sixth time this season. The Spartans beat Grinnell 1-0 in the 95th minute on a goal by Gonzalo Hernandez. UD held Grinnell without a shot in the first half.

Spartans Shutout Cornell

The University of Dubuque Women's Soccer team picked up their third shutout of the year with a 2-0 win against Cornell College. The Spartans victory was their seventh straight over Cornell with a combined score of 28-5 during the winning streak. UD took the lead early in the first half on a goal by Katie Lynn.

Spartans Downed by Norse

The University of Dubuque volleyball team rallied late in the third set before the visiting Luther College Norse captured the final set 25-23 to take the match 3-0. Luther captured the opening set with strong hitting 25-20 and held the Spartans hitters at bay in the second set by a 25-14 score.

Wolfe Leads Spartans to Viterbo Invite Title

The University of Dubuque men's golf team was a stroke out of the lead (297) after the opening round of Viterbo Ronnie Eastman Invitational on Sunday, Oct. 6. Monday the team battled back to shoot the low round (295) to claim the team title with a score of 592.

Snitker Named IIAC Performer of the Week

University of Dubuque linebacker Blaine Snitker (Waukon, Iowa/Waukon) was named IIAC Football (Defensive) Performer of the Week. The sophomore outside linebacker finished with 7 tackles (five solo), a sack, and an interception in which he returned 31 yards for a touchdown in the Spartans 23-21 victory over Central College.

Prull Earns IIAC Performer of the Week

University of Dubuque kicker Curtis Prull was named IIAC Football (Special Teams) Performer of the Week. Prull set a new school record with three field goals in the Spartans 23-21 victory over Central College. The sophomore made field goals of 20, 24, and 37 yards. He was also 2-2 on extra point attempts.

Women's Soccer Shutout on the Road

The University of Dubuque Women's Soccer team went on the road for the first time this year since Iowa Conference play began. The Spartans were unable to get the offense going in the 2-0 loss the Luther College, who is undefeated in the IIAC. UD and Luther were tied at 0-0 at halftime.

Spartans at SMU Cardinal Invitational

The University of Dubuque Volleyball team took part in the inaugural SMU Cardinal Invitational, hosted by St. Mary's University (MN) on Friday night and Saturday morning. The Spartans opened the weekend with a 3-1 win over Augustana before losing to #10 St. Benedict in their second match of the day. UD would lose both matches on Saturday 3-0 against St. Mary's and #19 Augsburg. Katelyn Herbig was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Spartans 7th at IIAC Championships

The University of Dubuque women's golf team battled stormy conditions on the final weekend of the IIAC Women's Golf Championships to finish seventh. Spartans led by Lauren Smith who finished with a 358 (91, 89, 93, 85) to tie for 20th overall.

Spartan Open IIAC With Victory Over Dutch

The University of Dubuque football team opened league play on Saturday with a 23-21 victory over the Central College Dutch on Chalmers Field. The Spartans led early 3-0 and at halftime 10-7 and stretched the lead in the final half to 23-14 before the Dutch scored in the final minute of play to slice the Spartan lead to 23-21 as time expired.

Spartan Men Take 10th at Warrior Invitational

The University of Dubuque Men’s Cross Country team competed at the Warrior Invitation hosted by Wisconsin Luther College on Saturday. The Spartans tied for 10th of 25 teams with 257 points. Payton Nevills was the top UD finisher in 19th place (of 234 runners).

Ninth Place for Spartan Women at Wisconsin Lutheran

The University of Dubuque Women’s Cross Country team competed at the Warrior Invitation hosted by Wisconsin Luther College on Saturday. The Spartans finished 9th in the 29 team race with 280 points. Brenda Nava led UD with a time of 25:14.9 in the 6,000 meter race at Greenfield Park.

Double Overtime Loss for Men's Soccer

The University of Dubuque Men's Soccer team once again found themselves needing extra time to decide the outcome. The Spartans lost to Luther College 2-1 in two overtimes on Saturday night. UD has played five overtime games already this season.

IIAC Women's Tennis Individual Tournament Canceled Due to Inclement Weather

The 2013 Iowa Conference Women's Tennis Individual Tournament scheudled for Friday, October 6th through Saturday, October 7th has been cancelled. The threat of severe weather in the Decorah area has forced the tournament to be called off without a makeup date.

Ripley Smith to Speak at Wendt Center for Character Education Fall Lecture

On Monday, October 14, the University of Dubuque’s Wendt Center for Character Education’s will host a lecture by professor and activist, L. Ripley Smith (C’97). The lecture will begin at 7:00 p.m. in John and Alice Butler Hall, Heritage Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Spartans Improve to 8-2 with Win Against Central

The University of Dubuque Women’s Soccer team improved to 8-2 on the season with a victory over Central on Wednesday afternoon. The Spartans 4-1 victory on Oyen Field improved their home record to 6-1 on the year. UD held Central without a shot on goal in the second half. Dubuque is now 1-1-0 in Iowa Conference play.

Sieverding Chosen for Iowa High School Athletics Hall of Fame

University of Dubuque Men’s Basketball Head Coach Robbie Sieverding was announced as one of the newest members of the Iowa High School Athletic Association’s Basketball Hall of Fame. Sieverding prepped at Bellevue Marquette High School before staring at the University of Northern Iowa. Induction ceremonies will be held on March 15th during the state tournament.

Men's Soccer Wins Overtime Thriller

The University of Dubuque Men's Soccer team pulled out an overtime victory over Central College on Wednesday night on Oyen Field. The Spartans Cory Winkler scored 46 seconds into overtime to give UD a 3-2 win. Dubuque is now 2-7-1 overall and 1-1 in Iowa Conference action.

University of Dubuque to Dedicate Heritage Center

On Sunday morning, October 13, the University of Dubuque will officially dedicate the new Heritage Center. The Festival Worship Service and Dedication of Heritage Center will begin at 11:00 a.m. in John and Alice Butler Hall of Heritage Center.
