English is the study of the structural, moral, and aesthetic aspects of language and literature. At the University of Dubuque, your studies will connect you with students and faculty united by a common love of language and literature in its many forms. You will leave ready to build a career in many fields, including education, law, public service, nonprofit leadership, publishing, or business.

The English minor is designed to be as flexible as possible in allowing student to choose English courses which will best reflect their interests and support their other areas of study.

An English Minor consists of 18 credits as follows:

  • ENG 112: Introduction to Literature (3) or ENG 260: Literature and Culture (3)
  • ENG 201: Foundations of Literary Studies (3)
  • Four additional English courses (ENG), numbered above 201
