The 2025 University of Dubuque Jazz Festival will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025*, at University of Dubuque Heritage Center.

UD Jazz Festival offers high school jazz bands the opportunity to perform for clinicians in the morning, attend instrument-specific masterclasses in the afternoon, and experience a performance by the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra in the evening. Concert tickets, dinner, and a campus tour are included for all participants.

Clinics
High school bands each have an hour to warm up, perform, and receive a clinic. Bands may watch other bands perform and clinic before or after their assigned clinic time.

Lunch
High school bands are on their own for lunch. Directors may choose to coordinate lunch for their band before or after their assigned clinic time.

Campus Tours
Participants will receive a campus tour hosted by the Office of Admission.

Masterclasses
Participants will attend a masterclass for saxophones, trumpets, trombones, or rhythm section with Tommy Dorsey Orchestra musicians.

Dinner
Complimentary dinner is provided for participants at Barbara and Jack Smeltzer Dining Hall, Peters Commons on the University of Dubuque campus.

Festival Application
Directors are invited to complete the online festival application for their band(s) by Monday, November 11, 2024. If spots are available after that date, the application period may be extended and the application will remain open. Acceptance into the event is not guaranteed due to capacity considerations. Bands will be notified of their status in early December.

Multiple Bands
Schools are welcome to apply for multiple ensembles from their high school to attend. Please fill out a separate application for each band. A multiple band discount is not offered.

Festival Fee
If confirmed to participate, a fee of $200.00 per band is required to be paid within 30 days of acceptance notice.
