Spartans Defense Stops Boxers

The University of Dubuque held on for a tough, knock down win over the Pacific University Boxers on Saturday night on Chalmers Field 16-10. Under near ideal conditions Saturday evening the Spartans 1-2 overall looked to their defense every time the visiting Boxers moved the ball within striking distance. The defense displayed what they are capable of after collecting four interceptions in the victory.

Men's Soccer Lose on Late Goal

The University of Dubuque men' soccer team and the UW-Platteville Pioneers played a balanced match on Wednesday evening with both teams seeing quality shots on goal. Through 86 minutes it appeared as though the contest might be headed for overtime, knotted at 0-0, before the Pioneers Mbodje Sarr took advantage of the ball bouncing off a Spartan defender.

The Spartans finished 3rd out of 12 teams after trailing for the lead by two strokes the opening round 9 (309-311=620).

The University of Dubuque men's cross country team placed fifth overall among the 13 teams competing at the 53rd Les Duke Invitational 8K race on Saturday. The Spartans were paced by freshman Alec Bass, who finished just outside the Top-10, in 13th place in 26:39. Payton Nevills sandwiched between two Spartan freshmen was 20th overall in 27:05 as teammate Jack Lindsay crossed the finish line in 27:40.
