UD's Casanova Earn Capital One Academic All-District® Baseball Honors

The 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-District® Baseball and Softball Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The University of Dubuque's Daniel Casanova (So., OF, Lake Tapps, Wash./Auburn Riverside HS) earned the award in baseball.

Track and Field Hope to Secure National Qualifiers

The University of Dubuque track and field's pole vaulting duo of Rick Valcin and Amanda Sinkler both set new personal bests and new school records at the Augustana Twilight Meet and helped to punch their ticket to the men's and women's NCAA Division III National Championships next weekend in Canton, New York. Also competing at Augustana and tentatively earning a spot at Nationals was DuVaun Goodlow and Tanasha Atwater.

The NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Committee announced on Sunday the participants in the 2015 NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The University of Dubuque qualified four individuals into the championships.

Track and Field's Higgins Leads Four Spartans at Nationals

Alexis Higgins proudly represented the University of Dubuque women's track and field team and placed 10th in the women's high jump to lead three other Spartan qualifiers at the NCAA Division III National Championships on Saturday afternoon, the final day of competition.
UD's Mena and 1997 Hawkeyes to be Inducted in Glen Brand Wrestling Hall of Fame

The members of the 2015 Glen Brand Wrestling Hall of Fame class have been announced and the University of Dubuque's assistant wrestling coach Mike Mena will be part of the 1997 University of Iowa Wrestling team to be honored. He and his team is joined by four other individuals: Rich Binek, Mike Mann, Rick Caldwell, and Fred Cooper. The National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum will induct the new members on Saturday, May 30 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Cedar Falls.
Men's Soccer Hosting Advanced Players Camp in August

UD to Host Dubuque Area Youth Leadership Council’s Character Development Day

On Wednesday, April 8, the University of Dubuque’s Wendt Center for Character Education will host the Dubuque Area Youth Leadership Council’s (DAYLC) Character Development Day from 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. One hundred high school juniors from schools throughout the Dubuque area will attend the event, where they will learn about leadership, values, character development, and making ethical decisions.

UD Social Justice Class to Hold Third Annual Debate

On Thursday, May 7, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m., the University of Dubuque’s Honors Program will hold the third annual Social Justice Debate in Heritage Center’s John and Alice Butler Hall. The intent of the debate is to illuminate two controversial topics. Students will engage in parliamentary-style debating, which involves alternating rounds and audience participation. Doors open at 5:30; the public is encouraged to attend this open event.

Thursday, April 30, the University of Dubuque bestowed high student, faculty, and staff honors upon six individuals and one student organization at the 2015 Honors Convocation at Heritage Center. The Student of the Year Award, University Leadership Award, Senior Academic Athletic Award, Student Organization of the Year Award, Student Organization Advisor of the Year Award, Faculty of the Year Award, and Staff of the Year Award,were announced at the conclusion of the ceremony.
