University of Dubuque to hold Advent Worship Service and Tree Lighting

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque will begin the season of Advent and prepare for the coming of Christmas with a cherished tradition. The Advent Worship Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, in Blades Chapel, followed by the 25th annual Tree Lighting in Alumni Courtyard. Both events are open to the public.

"Our reason for living with hope and joy is rooted both in God's revealed acts of salvation in the past and a certain future that is assured," said the Rev. James Gunn, DMin, dean of Chapel.

The theme this year is "Rekindling Hope," with preaching from Rev. Susan Forshey, PhD, associate professor of Christian discipleship. Rev. Forshey has been a member of the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary's faculty since 2014 and is currently serving St. John's Episcopal Church of Dubuque as an associate pastor.

UD and UDTS students will provide leadership during the Advent Worship Service and Tree Lighting as people gather to hear and sing of the faith that binds us.

For those who cannot attend in person, the Advent Worship Service and Tree Lighting will be streamed live at www.facebook.com/UDubuque and www.youtube.com/UDBQmedia.
