UD Concert Choir and UD Chamber Singers Performed in California
By University Relations StaffDUBUQUE, Iowa - Twenty-four members of the University of Dubuque Concert Choir and University of Dubuque Chamber Singers traveled to California from April 29, 2024, to May 7, 2024, to perform the "Sounds of Home" Choir Tour. Around 275 people attended performances at six locations.
"Choir tour is a unique opportunity for students to see other parts of the country, meet a variety of people, and grow closer to each other as a creative ensemble," said Kristen Eby, MM, head of the Department of Fine and Performing Arts, director of choral activities, and assistant professor of music. "I always witness a great deal of growth, both musical and personal, throughout our tours."
The "Sounds of Home" Choir Tour featured works by Aaron Copland, Andre Thomas, Michael John Trotta, Gwyneth Walker, and more. The tour was under the direction of Eby and accompanied by Jill Klinebriel, an adjunct instructor at UD.
Touring has been a valued tradition at the University of Dubuque. In recent decades, the UD Concert Choir has performed in 38 states and embarked on trips to Puerto Rico, Guatemala, and Canada.
