Jon Turbett to Deliver the Spring 2025 Michael Lester Wendt Character Lecture
By University Relations StaffDUBUQUE, Iowa - Jon Turbett, JD, a special agent with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, will deliver the Spring 2025 Michael Lester Wendt Character Lecture at 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 3, 2025, in John and Alice Butler Hall, Heritage Center, University of Dubuque.
The lecture, titled "Character Without Compartments," is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.
Turbett has spent his entire law enforcement career as a special agent with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. After graduating from the University of Iowa College of Law, he was assigned to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation's Gambling Unit. After five years, he was reassigned to the Major Crime Unit, where he has worked as a special agent since 2005. Turbett currently investigates a significant number of felony level offenses including homicides, human trafficking, fraud, and sex crimes.
Over the years, Turbett has presented at the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association Conference, the Midwest Gang Investigators Association's Conference, the Conference on Crimes Against Women, and the Conference on Crimes Against Children. He is involved with The CTK Group, a private research and training company, which works with law enforcement officers nationwide to improve their interview and interrogation skills.
Turbett is part of the leadership team with Veritas Church that rents space on UD's campus - both for its Sunday morning service and Thursday evening college ministry called Salt Company.
The lecture is presented by UD's Wendt Character Initiative as part of its mission to promote a campus culture of excellent moral character and purposeful lives. Guest lecturers in the fall and spring speak from lives of purpose, linking issues of the day to character virtues such as integrity, justice, and compassion.
