Take a trip down memory lane with Spartan Nation at "UD: Then and Now," the newest exhibit at the University of Dubuque's Bisignano Art Gallery.

"UD: Then and Now" is free and open to the public Monday, September 30, 2024, through Friday, November 8, 2024, at the art gallery inside Heritage Center, 2255 Bennett Street.

Adrian Van Vliet established the Van Vliet School in 1852. The school underwent multiple name changes before it received the official designation of the University of Dubuque in 1920.

"Over the last 172 years, the University of Dubuque has served thousands of students on their quest to further their education," said Noah Bullock (C'21), coordinator of the art gallery. "It's a community based on academic achievement, character, diversity, and worship. Friendships are made that last a lifetime and lessons are learned."

The exhibit will feature a variety of photographs and artifacts through the years showcasing student life, athletics, and campus growth.

A free pre-show reception for "UD: Then and Now" will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2024, in the art gallery. The reception will take place in conjunction with a performance by comedian Nate Jackson, which will begin at 8:00 p.m. in John and Alice Butler Hall, Heritage Center. For more information or to purchase tickets to the performance, please visit www.dbq.edu/HeritageCenter.

"Whether you graduated years ago or last spring, UD will always be your home and a part of who you are - a Spartan," Bullock said.

Gallery hours are noon to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The art gallery is also open in conjunction with all major events in John and Alice Butler Hall, Heritage Center.

"UD: Then and Now" will also be available virtually at https://www.dbq.edu/Gallery.
