The University of Dubuque Department of Fine and Performing Arts and Northeast Iowa School of Music will present "Whose Musical Line is it Anyway? Composers You Know, Music You Don't" at 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 13, 2023, in John and Alice Butler Hall, Heritage Center.

"Whose Musical Line is it Anyway? Composers You Know, Music You Don't" will feature the Dubuque Community String Orchestra with UD's String Ensemble under the direction of Tracey Rush, MM, adjunct professor of music and founder of the Dubuque Community String Orchestra.

Additionally, Josette Robertson, a senior music education major, will be a student conductor and Charles Barland, DMA, university organist, will be a guest organist.

The fall string concert will engage audience members to try to match little-known music to well-known composers who wrote the music.

"Most of the music we will be performing is by well-known composers, but not their most famous works. The hope is to engage the audience in active listening so they will compare what they hear with what they already know. If they can't tell the difference between Mozart and Bartok before the concert, they will by the time they leave," Rush said.

"Whose Musical Line is it Anyway? Composers You Know, Music You Don't" is free and open to the public. No ticket is required.
