Upon completion of the University of Dubuque Nursing Program, graduates will:

  • Integrate, translate, and apply established and evolving nursing knowledge and knowledge from other disciplines, including a foundation in liberal arts and natural and social sciences.
  • Apply clinical judgment to deliver person-centered care to patients, families, and communities in various settings.
  • Apply knowledge of social determinants of health to promote population health along the continuum from public health prevention to disease management of populations.
  • Synthesize, translate, apply, and disseminate nursing knowledge to improve health and transform health care.
  • Understand and apply established and emerging principles of safety and improvement science.
  • Collaborate, advocate, and communicate across professions and with care team members, patients, families, communities, and other stakeholders to optimize care and strengthen outcomes.
  • Coordinate resources to provide safe, quality, equitable care to diverse populations.
  • Understand and use information and communication technologies and informatics processes to provide care, gather data, and support decision-making.
  • To apply excellent moral character to nursing practice while formulating a sustainable professional nursing identity that reflects nursing's characteristics, values, and ethical commitments.
  • Participate in activities and self-reflection to foster lifelong learning, personal health, and the development of nursing leadership skills.
