Marching Band Scholarship
Becoming a member of the Marching Spartans is an exciting opportunity to continue playing and performing in college, but it is also a great way to earn a scholarship. The University of Dubuque recognizes the talents and contributions of its student musicians and offers scholarships in every section. Scholarships are renewable for a period of up to four years and available to both music and non-music majors.
To be considered for a marching band scholarship:
Step 1: Apply for admission to University of Dubuque online at www.dbq.edu/Apply or www.CommonApp.org/Apply
Step 2: Fill out the Marching Band Interest Form.
Step 3: Email a video recording of your playing to UDBand@dbq.edu
- Email Subject Line: (Your Name) Marching Band Application Video
- EX: John Doe Marching Band Application Video
RECORDING SPECIFICATIONS
The video can be as long or short as you would like. Smartphone videos are acceptable. Please include anything that represents your playing abilities.
All of the following are acceptable:
- An etude or solo piece from a lesson book or your teacher
- The feature piece from your high school band performance
- A demonstration of scales and arpeggios (wind players)
- A demonstration of rudiments (drummers)
- A combination of the above or something else of your choosing!
Music Participation Scholarship
The University of Dubuque Department of Fine and Performing Arts offers both Marching Band Scholarships and Music Participation Scholarships. Students enrolled in marching band and one or more other music ensemble offered by the Department of Fine and Performing Arts may qualify for both types of scholarships.
