In addition to our academic programs, the department has a rich tradition of choirs open to all students on campus. Ensembles are open to all university students, regardless of major. Academic credit is available for participation in performance ensembles.

ENSEMBLES
Concert Choir
The University of Dubuque Concert Choir studies choral repertoire from all genres and musical periods. The group performs two to four concerts annually and frequently performs at University functions such as homecoming, opening convocation, commencement, and more.
The group also goes on tour and has traveled to 38 states and Puerto Rico during the past ten years. Cities the Concert Choir has performed in include New York City, Boston, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, New Orleans, Washington, D.C., San Juan, and Honolulu.
Membership in Concert Choir is open to all students regardless of major. A short audition is required to determine voice part and placement in the ensemble. Concert Choir is available for one hour of credit to non-majors and fulfills ensemble requirements for FPA music majors. Six credits of Concert Choir will fulfill the general education arts requirement.
The ensemble meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 2:30 - 3:20 p.m. in Heritage Center's Aitchison-Welch Choral Rehearsal Room.
Chamber Singers
The University of Dubuque Chamber Singers is a select group of 8-12 vocalists derived from members of the Concert Choir. The group performs challenging choral chamber pieces and a capella works. The Chamber Singers performs concerts annually.
Membership in Chamber Singers is open by audition to all students currently enrolled in Concert Choir. Chamber Singers is available for one hour of credit to non-majors and fulfills ensemble requirements for FPA music majors.
The ensemble meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:45 p.m. in Heritage Center's Aitchison-Welch Choral Rehearsal Room.
Treble Choir
The University of Dubuque Treble Choir sings a wide variety of styles, from classical to pop/modern, and maintains a lighter performance schedule of a couple of events per semester. Designed to accommodate busy student schedules, this group rehearses less than two hours per week.
Membership in the Treble Choir is determined by a short audition, consisting of a range check and pitch matching exercise. It is available for one hour of credit to non-majors and fulfills ensemble requirements for FPA music majors.
Handbell Ensemble
The University of Dubuque Handbell Ensemble, a group of 7-15 students, is open to all regardless of major with no audition required. The ensemble is an opportunity for both experienced and beginning musicians to learn ringing technique and literature in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Rehearsals are Fridays, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. in Heritage Center's Straatmeyer Rehearsal Room.
MUSIC PARTICIPATION SCHOLARSHIP
Incoming students who will participate in one or more music ensembles at the University of Dubuque are invited to apply for a music participation scholarship which is renewable for up to four years if they remain enrolled in one or music ensemble each semester.
