Wrestling Collect Three Winners at UW-Platteville Super 8 Invite

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The University of Dubuque wrestling team opened their 2019-20 campaign against stiff competition on Saturday, going up against Loras, UW-Platteville, North Central and Chicago at the UW-Platteville Super 8 Invitational. The Spartans had three individual champions and six wrestlers in total that finished thrid or better.
The individual champions came from Jevontea Yarbrough (141), Luke Radeke (149) and Darryl Aiello (285). All three made quick work of their opponents, in the finals Yarbrough took down his opponent 8-4, Raedke forced a fall in 3:40 and Aiello won a nail-biter, 7-5. Saturday was Raeke's and Aiello's first career appearances in the blue and white.
Jessy Diaz was the lone Spartan to finish second, falling in the title match in sudden death overtime, 7-5 at 157. Isaiah Williams (149) and Zarik Anderson (165) both came up with big wins in third place matches. Williams pinned his opponent right before the final horn in 6:59 and Anderson racked up nine points on his way to a 9-2 win.
