Women's Basketball Falls in Morning Clash at UW-Stout

Menomonie, Wis. – The University of Dubuque women’s basketball team began a weekend road trip with a 78-61 loss at UW-Stout.

The Spartans and Blue Devils went back and forth for the for the first seven minutes as the score was all knotted at 10 with 3:12 to play in the first quarter. UW-Stout went on a 12-0 run to end the first quarter and never allowed the Spartans to get closer than nine points again.

The 22 point halftime deficit was just too much to overcome, even though UD did manage to outscore the Blue Devils in the second half 37-32.

The UD offense could never find their rhythm during the early contest, shooting 17-52 from the field for 32.7%. 13 Spartans in all saw action, and were led by Jaden Kelley who came off the bench to shoot 6-7 from the field and a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line for a game-high 18 points in 18 minutes.

Miah Smith and Alli Bailey would both add nine points apiece and Kennedy Litvinoff tacked on eight points.  

The Spartans turn right around and play at Northwestern St. Paul on Saturday Dec. 21st at 2 p.m.
