Volleyball Placed in St. Paul Region

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The 2019 NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament pairings were announced on Monday afternoon, placing the American Rivers Conference Tournament Champion Spartans in the St. Thomas Region as an eight seed. The Spartans will take on the host St. Thomas Tommies in the opening round on Thursday night at 8 p.m.

The Spartans are back in the tournament for the second straight season and will close out the first day of the St. Thomas Region when they take on the Tommies at 8 p.m. The Tommies are ranked 15th in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll.

The other Thursday first-round matches pit No. 12-ranked St. Ben's (23-5) against UW-Eau Claire (20-9), and St. Olaf (26-5) against Northwestern-St. Paul (24-8).

This is the fifth time the program has qualified for the national tournament and the first time going back-to-back years since 1994-95.

Since the beginning of October, the Spartans have won 12 of their last 14 matches.

Senior Kara Wright surpassed 1,000 kills in the A-R-C Title Game, coming up with 13 kills to help the Spartans to the conference title.
