BOX SCORE vs. Loras

DUBUQUE, Iowa - As the song from the band Three Dog Night in 1968 said, "One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do," unfortunately for the second consecutive time against the Loras College Duhawks it would be a lone point loss by the Spartans by a final score 71-72. Earlier this season UD lost at Loras by an 87-88 margin.

A couple of late turnovers by the Spartans would prove costly after the Spartans led by 12 points early in the second half. Both teams would find most of their scoring in the paint with UD holding the edge 34-32. The second match-up of the year would be tied six times and the near capacity crowd watched the teams swap the lead six times. UD led the game for 24:49 while the Duhawks held the lead for just 10:21 with their largest being seven points in the opening half of play. UD led at the break 40-33 and were outscored in the second 39-31.

Peter Ragen shot 50% from the field to lead the Spartans scoring with 19 points and would fall just shy of a double-double after grabbing nine rebounds. Mitch Burger finished with 17 points and Avery Butler collected a dozen rebounds. UD out rebounded the Duhawks 44-30. The Spartans made 11-15 free throws

UD will play host to the Luther College Norse on Saturday in Stoltz Sports Center on Jon Davison Court at 4 p.m.
