Box Score

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The UD baseball team grabbed their first victory of their annual spring break trip on Wednesday afternoon with a 3-1 win over Penn State-Abington.

How It Happened
-The Spartans did not need a hit to score the first run of the game in the top of the third. Reaching on a two-out error before three straight walks, with Kellen Mitchell drawing the final one to score JJ Valenica but that was the only run the Spartans could manage that inning. This was the first lead in 24 innings for UD.
-Valenica led off the fifth with a triple and scored on the very next batter when Jordan Goldstein ripped a single to give UD the 2-0 lead.
-Penn State Abington would get their only run of the contest in the bottom of the fifth and after that inning, no Nittany Lion runner would even reach second base.
-Luke Carroll delivered an insurance run for UD in the eighth. Max Snowed reached on a single, when Carroll drilled a double and Snowden raced all the way around the bases to make it 3-1, where the score would hold over the final two innings to give Jake Cekander his first career win.
