Men's Soccer Open League Play with Victory

STORM LAKE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's soccer team opened the American Rivers Conference with a commanding 2-0 road victory over the Buena Vista University Beavers.
UD's Jonny Mueller scored at 6:57 off a shot and save to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead. UD would add another goal at 15:41 off an assist from Axel Aaman found Gloria Luwara for the score. The Spartans ended the afternoon with 34 shots (18 in first half) and 13 being on goal. Luwara finished with 10 shots. The Beavers keeper was busy all afternoon and finished with 11 saves. UD's Brandon White earned teh shutout and collected two saves.
UD led in corner kicks 9-2, in total shots 34-5. The Spartans improve to 6-2-1 overall and 1-0 in A-R-C. Next up for the Spartans will be North Park University in Chicago, Ill. at 7 p.m. UD will return home to host the Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairiewolves on Oct. 5 under the lights of Oyen Field at 7:30 p.m.
