Men's Lacrosse Suffers First Loss

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's lacrosse team fell by a score of 11-6 on Saturday afternoon to the Concordia (WI) Falcons.

Concordia struck first, getting the first goal of the game just 3:02 into the contest. The Spartans held the Falcons in check for the remaining of the quarter and got that goal back with 3:56 left in the first quarter, where the score would hold going into the second. Corcordia once again scored the first goal of the period, before UD stormed back with two goal less than 90 seconds apart to grab their first lead of the day at 3-2, at the 8:20 mark of the second. However, the Falcons would final score the final three goals of the half to send UD into the break down 5-3.

Concordia struck with the first two goals of the third quarter before UD's Zach Schmitt broke the string of Falcons goals and pull the Spartans within three goals at 7-4 late in the third. UD could not hang onto the momentum for long as CUW rattled off three straight goals in the fourth to balloon the UD deficit to 10-4. The Spartans would score two of the final three goals over the final 5:22 to make it a final score of 11-6.

Three different Spartans would combine for all six of UD's goals, with Zach Schmitt, Andrew Wagner and Dominic Mulcahy all recording two goals. UD assisted on four of the six goals, with Schmitt handing out a team-high two assists.

The Spartans would actually outshoot the Falcons on Saturday afternoon, 36-35
