Men's Basketball Tumble Against #9 Prairiewolves

BOX SCORE vs. #9 Nebraska Wesleyan

LINCOLN, Nebr. - The University of Dubuque men's basketball team suffered a loss on Saturday to the #9-ranked Nebraska Wesleyan Prairewolves (18-2 overall, 11-0 in A-R-C) 66-92. The host Prairiewolves attacked the inside and finished the day with four out of five starters in double digits scoring. UD trailed at halftime 30-43 and were out scored in the final half 49-36.

UD's starters were held to a combined 24 points while the Spartans bench would nearly double that ouput as they finished with 42 points. Avery Butler led UD with 17 points and freshman Carter Stevens would attack from the outside to finish with 15 points. Peter Ragen was held to six points by NWU's defense, but would collect a team high nine rebounds.

The Spartans 12-5 overall, and 5-5 in the American Rivers Conference made 25-67 shot attempts (37.3%), 8-32 from the three point area (25%), and made 8-9 free throw attempts (88.9%).

The A-R-C schedule doesn't get any easier as the Spartans continue their road schedule with upcoming matches against the Central College Dutch (4-16 overall, 1-10 in A-R-C) on Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m. and at Buena Vista University (15-4 overall, 6-4 in A-R-C) on Feb. 8 at 4 p.m.
