Box Score

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The University of Dubuque baseball team fell in their second game of the RussMatt Games, falling to UMass Dartmouth on Monday morning, 9-2.

How It Happened
-UMass Dartmouth struck first in the bottom of the first after a triple set up a sac fly.
-Still trailing 1-0 in the third, Luke Carroll began the top of the inning getting hit by a pitch and eventually made his way to third with one out when Jordan Goldstein laid down a perfect squeeze bunt to plate Carroll and get the Spartans even at 1-1.
-UMass Dartmouth regained the lead in the fourth with a solo home run.
-The Spartans threatened to get that run back in the top of the fifth, loading the bases with only one out, however, UD left the bases loaded.
-After UMass Dartmouth got out of the jam in the top of the fifth, they plated three runs in the bottom of the inning, two in the sixth and one in each the seventh and eighth innings to blow the game open.
-The Spartans put together a rally in the top of the ninth with JJ Valenica bringing home a run on a bases loaded walk, but once again UD would leave the bases juiced to end the contest.
