Women's Tennis Splits on Hot Day

DEKALB, Ill. – The University of Dubuque women’s tennis team began the year with a thrilling 6-3 win over Milikin University before falling in the title match at the Milikin Dorothy McClure Tennis Tournament to Central College, 6-3.
The Spartans and Big Blue split the six single matches. UD got wins from Ashley Palacios-Quinonez, Madeline Parker and Hailey Wang out of the one, four and six spots, respectively. The Spartans then took over in doubles action, sweeping all three matches to clinch the match.
In the championship match, UD paired up with conference rival, Central College, in a non-conference matchup. On a hot day in Dekalb, the Spartans ran out of gas in their second match of the day, having one player retire due to the heat. Madeline Parker and Katelyn Green picked up the two wins in singles play for the Spartans. Madeline Parker capped her day with a 4-0 with a doubles win against the Dutch while paired up with Naomi Amani.
