CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women’s soccer team got a late goal from Lexus Rose to pull out a road win on Saturday afternoon, 1-0.

Dubuque, Univ. of 1, Coe College 0

How It Happened
-The Spartans wasted little time attacking the Koahawks, firing off three shots in the opening 3:30 with one on net but saved and another blocked. UD got four shots off before Coe could manage to get their first.
-The Kohawks tried to squeak the first goal of the game past the Spartans late in the first half in the 44th minute but Victoria Roethler came up with a big save.
-UD, who is usually very potent off of corner kicks had three in the first half but could not convert on any. The Spartans would go on to outshot the Kohawks 6-4 in the first half, with each team having two on goal but neither team was able to break through as we went into halftime all tied at 0-0.
-The Spartans finally broke the tie game in the 79th minute when Alexa Martin found Lexus Rose on a cross from the right side of the field into the box for her seventh goal of the season.
-However, the Kohawks would not go away quietly. Coe had three corners and one shot in the final 10 minutes of play but UD was able to stand their ground and keep them out of the net to preserve the win and the shutout.
