DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque softball team would end up with a conference split with the Buena Vista University beavers on Good Friday. UD opened with a 9-3 victory in game one before losing the second game by a 3-4 margin after leaving eight runners on base.

Brandy Heraty left off where she finished on Thursday night with the hot bat by going 4-4 at the plate in game one with three RBI's. Kylee Biedermann went 2-2 and scored two runs as teammate Brooke Goodman went 2-4 with an RBI. The Spartans scored nine runs off 13 hits and committed one error as the Beavers scored three runs off seven hits and committed two errors. Starting pitcher Abby McBee (1.80 ERA) went six innings, fanned 11 Beavers and allowed just two earned runs after facing 26 batters. Kayla Breunig (3.27 ERA) came in for relief for the final inning and and struck out 2-3 batters.

In game two the Spartans scored three runs off eight hits, but committed a pair of errors. The Beavers scored four runs off nine hits and committed one error. Allison Yaeger would end the second game 3-3 after hitting two doubles and collecting an RBI and Rachel Trader finished the game 2-3 at the plate. Starting pitcher Lexi Schmidt  (2.72 ERA) took the loss after allowing four earned runs after facing 30 batters. 

UD 21-11 overall and 4-7 in the A-R-C will travel to play the UW-Whitewater Warhawks (17-9 overall, 6-2 in WIAC) on Monday, April 22 at 3 p.m. before returning to conference action at #16-ranked Luther College on Wednesday, April 24 at 2 p.m.
