DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque softball team would collect a split in the American Rivers Conference on Tuesday, losing game one by a 2-6 final before rallying back and collecting the win in five innings over the Simpson College Storm by a 8-0 margin.

UD was held to two runs off six hits in the first game. Simpson jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and added two runs in the fifth and sixth innings before the Spartans responded by scoring twice in the bottom of the sixt to slice into the Storm lead 2-6. Kayla Featheringill went 2-4 at the plate and scored a run. Lexi Schmidt took the loss after allowing four earned runs in 32 batters faced. 

In the second game it was all UD. The Spartans led early 2-0 added two runs in the third, a run in the fourth and three in the bottom of the fifth to end the afternoon early for the Storm by an 8-0 margin. UD scored eight runs off 14 hits and played errorless ball. Featheringill went 3-4 at the plate along with teammate Rachel Trader and the pair each finished with an RBI. Morgan Turnmire, Alison Yager, and Brooke Goodman would all finish with two hits. Goodman and Brandy Heraty would both lead UD with two RBI's. Heraty would collect her sixth homerun of the season after a two RBI hit over leftfield.

Kayla Breunig picked up the victory and faced 19 Storm batters and allowed just two hits while striking out five. The Spartans return to action on Saturday, April 6 when they host the Wartburg College Knights at 1 p.m.
