Men's Track and Field Lead A-R-C Championships After Day Two

Caroline Ferguson won the women's shot put who won with a toss of 14.16m/46'-5.50" in her sixth and final throw of the day.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The University of Dubuque's men and Wartburg's women took narrow leads after the second day of the 2019 American Rivers Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The event is being hosted at Clark Field on the campus of Coe College. Dubuque's lead is just two points over second-place Central (65-63) and just seven better than Nebraska Wesleyan (58). Wartburg's lead is just five points over second-place NWU (85-80) and a comfortable 23 points over third-place Loras.

The individual highlight of the day came from UD's Blaze Murfin, who set a new meet record in the hammer throw with a toss of 59.16m/194'-01" during his final throw of the finals. He also claimed A-R-C honors in the shot put with a winning throw of 16.26m/53'-4.25" with his first toss of the meet. Other A-R-C title winners included: Caroline Ferguson in the women's shot put who won with a toss of 14.16m/46'-5.50" in her sixth and final throw of the day and Rebecca Burmahl in the women's weight throw who captured the title with her second toss which landed at 51.51m/169'-00".

The meet continues on Saturday morning with field events at 10 a.m. and the first running events at 1:30 p.m.
