BOSTON, Mass. – The University of Dubuque track and field team picked up two more All-Americans on Saturday as Alison Beeman finished third in the women’s 200m dash and Blaze Murfin finished second in the men’s shot put at the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.

Kayla Slowick began the second and final day of the NCAA Indoor Championships for the Spartans, showing off her talents in the women’s shot put. Slowick’s best of three throws came on her second attempt, throwing 11.92m (39-01.25) to giver herself a 19th place finish.

After posting the second best time in the 200m dash prelims on Friday afternoon, Alison Beeman followed that up with a time of 24.79 seconds on Saturday during the finals to come away with a third place finish and her first career All-American honors.

Blaze Murfin wrapped up his indoor career on Saturday with an impressive performance in the shot put. His first throw put him in eighth, skipping over most of the throwers from the first heat. He then continued to one up himself, as his second throw improved his mark by over four and a half feet to jump to third place. On his third throw of the prelims he launched a throw of 18.38m (60-03.75) to move into second place heading into the finals.

Murfin scratched on his first two throws of the final but on his sixth and final throw, he put up his best mark at 18.58m (60-11.50). The mark of 18.58m was not enough to jump the leader, however it gave him a 1.08m advantage of the third place finisher. This was the third straight year Murfin has earned All-American honors in the shot put and weight throw.

With indoor season coming to a close, the Spartans will now turn their attention to the outdoor season which begins in a few short weeks.
