Volleyball Sweeps Kohawks

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The University of Dubuque volleyball team improved to 17-1 (2-1 IIAC) on the season after taking down Coe College in straight sets (25-15, 25-19, 25-23).

The Spartans started out on fire in the first set, coming up with 15 kills in the first set and a hitting percentage of .312, their best hitting percentage in any of the sets. The Spartans would cruise to a first set win 25-15. The second set started off slower for UD as the Kohawks stormed out and scored the first four points of the set. However, the Spartans did not get rattled and battled back before taking the lead for good at the 16-15 mark.

After another back and fourth set in the third set, Lauren Egnarski, who had 10 kills on the night, came up with her 10th kill to cap off the win with a spike that went off of a Kohawk to end the match. Karrah Davis led UD with 18 kills against the Kohawks, while only committing four errors on 47 attempts.

Karah Wright stuffed the stat sheet on Tuesday night, coming up with seven kills, 11 digs, three solo blocks and four block assists.  

UD hosts Simpson College on Friday night at 7:30 and Central College on Saturday morning at 11:30 in the Stoltz Sports Complex
