Volleyball Falls to Pair of WIAC Foes

The University of Dubuque will play host to a double-dual tournament on Friday night hosted in McCormick Gymansium and in Stoltz Sports Center on the Campus of the University of Dubuque. Teams competeing are: UD, Loras College, UW-Platteville, and UW-Whitewater. Games times are scheduled for 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Folk Singer Carrie Newcomer Takes Center Stage at UD’s Heritage Center

Heritage Center, the University of Dubuque’s performing arts, worship, and campus center, will host folk singer/songwriter-guitarist Carrie Newcomer on Friday, November 14 at 7:30 p.m. Carrie marks her UD debut with piano accompaniment by Gary Walters, and a special guest appearance by the UD Gospel Choir. The performance is part of a week-long artist residency at UD for the performer, during which she will participate in worship services, hold public workshops, and work with student writers, actors, and musicians.

The University of Dubuque women's soccer team remains ranked in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) North Region poll released this week. The Spartans dropped from 7th to 9th this week after losing a 0-1 contest on the road last Saturday. UD is 12-4 overall and tied for first place in the Iowa Conference with a 3-1 record.

The University of Dubuque volleyball team helped kick off an exciting Homecoming Week with a 3-1 victory over the Simpson College Storm on Tuesday evening. UD swept the first two sets by scores of 25-18, 27-25, but the Storm fought back in the third set to capture it 25-21. The final set was all Spartans after they jumped out to an early lead and captured the match with a fourth set score 25-20.

UD Chamber Singers to Partner with Julien Chamber Choir for October Concert

The University of Dubuque Chamber Singers and the Julien Chamber Choir, both directed by Kristen Eby, adjunct music faculty, will perform a joint concert on Sunday, October 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the University of Dubuque Heritage Center’s John and Alice Butler Hall. The concert, titled A Life in Song, features works by Mozart, Whitacre, and others, including the premiere of a commissioned work by Clarke University senior Adam O’Dell, based on the Dylan Thomas poem, “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night”. Tickets are available through the Farber box Office - $7 for adults, $3 students and children, UD faculty/staff/students are free of charge – but a ticket is required for admission.
