Men's Soccer Tie UW-Whitewater in 2 OT's

WHITEWATER, Wis. - The University of Dubuque men's soccer battled back from a 0-2 deficit on Wednesday night in the first half of action to knot the game at 2-2 in the second half against the host UW-Whitewater Warhawks in a windy and slight rainy evening in Wisconsin. The two teams fought through two overtimes as the Spartans goal keeper Riley Jensen stoppped all four shot on goal attempts in the final 20 minutes of the pair of overtimes. Jensen played all 110 minutes in goal and collected 10 saves on the road.

UD ended the night with 16 shots with 10 being on goal. Gonzalo Hernandez led the Spartans with five shots and four being on goal, he finished with a goal on a penalty kick and had an assist on teammates Billy Belmonte game tying goal at 71:56. It was another tough physical game with eight yellow cards shared among the two squads. The Spartans Jose Alonso Guerrero narrowly missed game wining goal when the Warhawks keeper earned the save in the final :30 seconds of the final overtime.

The Spartans schedule doesn't get any easier when they travel on Sept. 13 to Illinois Wesleyan University at 3:30 p.m. in Bloomington, Ill. UD returns home to face another strong opponent in UW-Platteville on Sept. 17 on Oyen Field at 7:00 p.m.
