Bradshaw Named Iowa Conference Male Athlete of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA -  The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced today that Luther College cross country runner Tricia Serres and University of Dubuque football player Bryan Bradshaw (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) have been named IIAC Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, October 20, 2013. The Conference also announced Performers of the Week in six fall sports. 

In addition to being named Male Athlete of the Week, Bradshaw was named IIAC Football (Offensive) Performer of the Week. The senior quarterback completed 17 of 26 passes for 311 yards and five touchdowns in the Spartans 38-14 victory over previously unbeaten Coe College. His five touchdown passes totaled 175 yards with TD strikes of 51, 26, 28, 66, and 4 yards. The Spartans offense finished with a season high 520 yards of total offense. UD scored 31 straight points in the second and third quarters to take control of the game. Dubuque also won the time of possession battle controling the ball for 39:15 compared to 20:45 for Coe.

Bradshaw currently leads the Iowa Conference with 1,644 yards passing (274.0/game, 26th in DIII) and 19 touchdown passes (8th in DIII). He ranks second in the IIAC in completions (120), passing efficiency (143.9), and total offense (277.0 yards/game). In IIAC only games, Bradshaw has thrown 10 touchdown passes and no interceptions. He has not thrown an interception in 108 pass attempts and for 13 quarters.

Bradshaw is the fourth Spartan to win IIAC Football Performer of the Week honors this season. Wide Receiver Tyler Rutenbeck (Offensive, 9/9/13), linebacker Blaine Snitker (Defensive, 10/7/13), and kicker Curtis Prull (Special Teams, 10/7/13) have all won the award previously.
