IOWA CITY, Iowa --- Defending champion Central College carded four scores of 77 or lower en route to a 299 team total Saturday at Finkbine Golf Course as the Dutch surged into the lead at the midway point of the 2013 Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Men's Golf Championships.

Central (327-299---626) holds a 13-stroke lead over Luther (329-310---639) headed into the final 36 holes next weekend at Elmcrest Country Club in Cedar Rapids. The Norse lead Simpson (329-314---643) by four strokes and Dubuque (337-308---645) by six.

Central's Justin Livingston carded three birdies, including two on the back nine, en route to a 71 for the round of the day. Livingston (82-71---153) shares the medalist lead with Luther's Andrew Peter (80-73---153). Dubuque's Eric Wolfe (82-74---156) is three shots back in third, while Central's Desmond Stoll (82-75--157) and David Watson (81-76--157) are tied for fifth.

Wartburg's Jeremy Carper (85-73--158), Simpson's Zach Hale (78-80--158) and Luther's Tobias Kohl (79-79--158) are tied for sixth and Central's Jared Nepomuceno (82-77--159) and Wartburg's Carson Barron (83-77--160) round out the top ten.

Matt Kristensen of Wartburg had his first-round 74 erased after he was found to have signed an incorrect scorecard. He rebounded with an 81. The error also meant an 18-hole swing in Wartburg's team score, dropping the Knights from the 18-hole lead into fifth place. Wartburg shot 310 Saturday with three rounds under 80.

The tournament concludes with 36 holes next Friday and Saturday, May 4-5 at Elmcrest Country Club in Cedar Rapids. There will be three waves of tee times each day. Friday's round will begin at 8 a.m. with Loras and Coe teeing off first, followed by Dubuque, Wartburg and Buena Vista and, finally, Central, Luther and Simpson.
