Michaelis Lifts Spartans Past Knights

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's basketball needed a spark on Thursday night and in came by way of Mitch Michaelis who posted 28 points in the 77-64 victory over the Wartburg Knights. 

Michaelis finished the night sinking all 12 of his free throw attempts and sank 4-8 from the three point area along with three rebounds and three steals. Andre Norris added 11 points and Lucas Ware had 10 points off the bench. Norris led rebounding with five trailed closely by Isaiah Reeves who had four. The Spartans were narrowly out rebounded 31-29, but led in just about every other category. UD out scored Wartburg in the paint 18-14, scored 23 points off Wartburg turnovers, and added 10 in second chance points. The score was tied five times and the lead swapped seven times. 

UD will host the Coe College Kohawks on Saturday, February 2 at 4:00 p.m. The two teams enter Saturday tied for fourth place in the league with 5-4 records. UD won at Coe on January 9 by a score of 63-59.
