Spartans Game Televised Live on KCRG 9.2

DUBUQUE, IOWA - The University of Dubuque Womens Basketball team travel down the street to take on Loras College in a game televised live by KCRG on Digital Channel 9.2. The Spartans and Duhawks played an even first half with three lead changes and four tied game situations as UD led 30-29. UD would get outscored in the second half with Loras picking up the 62-56 victory. Dubuque is now 13-5 overall and 3-4 in the Iowa Conference.

For the eighth straight game, Mollie Whiting (Woodstock, Ill./Woodstock) finished with over 20 points as she scored a game high 22 points. Whiting also grabbed nine rebounds and dished out three assists. She also extended her streak of games with over 15 points to 12. Meggie Schmidt (Edgerton, Wis./Edgerton) came off the bench to score 20 points with nine points coming on three pointers. Schmidt also recorded four steals in the game.

Trailing 11-7 at the 12:29 mark in the first half, the Spartans went on a 10-0 run to take their first lead of the game. Krystal Pritchett (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) and Whiting started the run with three-pointers followed by layups by Whiting and Jennifer Fischer (Deerfield, Wis./Deerfield). 
After giving up the lead early in the second half and trailing by as much as ten, UD pulled within one at 44-43 with 9:30 left on Schmidt's second three-pointer of the game.

A sign of the Spartans depth, the UD bench outscored the starters 30-26. Kayla Springer (Altoona, Wis./Altoona) finished with five points and seven rebounds off the bench.

Stephany Remakel (Dubuque, Iowa/Hempstead) blocked two shots in the game to push her season total to 34.

UP NEXT: The Spartans will travel to Decorah on Saturday, January 26th to take on Luther College (10-8, 2-5)at 5:00 pm. UD beat Luther 69-55 on January 21st.
