Spartans Capture Victory Over Duhawks

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's basketball team improved to 4-3 in the Iowa Conference on Wednesday night after taking the victory at Loras College by a score of 78-66. The win improved the Spartans overall record to 14-4. 

Leading the scoring for the Spartans was freshman Andre Norris who capped off a night of 8-11 shooting from the field and 3-4 shots from the free throw line to finish with 21 points, five rebounds, and three block shots. Mitch Michaelis added 14 points and four steals, as teammate Chris Frazier was a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line to finish with 13 points. Miles Hookstead grabbed four rebounds and added 11 points. The Spartans bench out scored the Duhawks 37-11 and UD dominated the inside game by scoring 34 points in the paint while holding the Duhawks to 12 points.

The Spartans finished the night sinking 25-49 field goals (51.%) and made 24-26 free throw attempts (92.3%). UD has won three in a row and will once agin face the league leader twice in less than a week when they travel to Decorah on Saturday, Jan. 26 to face the Luther Norse. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. UD beat the Norse in overtime on Monday, Jan. 21 by a 76-73 score. The Norse gave Wartburg it's second loss of the season when they captured the victory at Wartburg 75-61 on Wednesday. The Spartans return home on Jan. 30 to face Wartburg, 10-7 overall, 5-2 in IIAC.
