Spartans Victorious Over Crusaders

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's basketball kept their home record unblemished this season with a 65-57 win over the Clarke University Crusaders.

The win is the second in the past month over the Crusaders when the two squads met at the UW-Stout Turkey Shootout on Nov. 24, ending in a 64-56 Spartan victory. Chris Frazier led all scorers with 16 points tonight, he was trailed by Derek Griffin who finished the night perfect. Griffin sank all six attempts from the floor and and made all his free throws to finish with 13 points. Miles Hookstead led the Spartans off the bench with nine rebounds as teammate Isaiah Reeves gathered seven rebounds and seven assists.

UD finished the night being out rebounded by the visiting Crusaders 40-31. Both teams scored about half their points in the paint with both benches contributing in the contest. The Spartans bench added 21 points while the Crusaders bench scored 25. UD shot 45.5% from the field and were 5-18 from the three point area. The contest was tied 12 times and the lead swapped 14 times for the near capacity crowd of 1,375 in attendance.

The Spartans will host the Blackburn College Beavers on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 4:00 p.m. in Stoltz Sports Center.
