5-1 Spartans Win on the Road

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The University of Dubuque women's basketball team improved to 5-1 overall as they built up an early lead and beat Webster University by a 61-39 score.

Stephany Remakel battled under the basket to end Monday night with 10 rebounds and five blocks. Nineteen Spartans added to the victory on the road where they will remain. Tomorrow the Spartans continue play in St. Louis when they face Fontbonne College at 6:00 p.m. before returning to Dubuque to host the Blackburn College Beavers on Dec. 8 at 2:00 p.m.

UD led at halftime 33-14 after holding the hosts to only five made baskets and a chilly 21.7% shooting from the floor. UD sank 27-74 attempts from the field and couldn't find their groove from the outside after making 2-14 three point attempts (14.3%). The Spartans with the help of Remakel dominated the rebounding by grabbing 56 while Webster was held to just 40 in the loss. UD scored 21 points off turnovers and utilized their bench to out score Webster's bench 41-7.
