Spartans Down Crusaders in Turkey Shootout

MENOMONIE, Wis. - The University of Dubuque men's basketball team remained a perfect 4-0 on Saturday afternoon after beating the Clarke University Crusaders by a 64-56 score. 

UD led by three points at halftime and would out score the Crusaders 27-22 in the final 20 minutes of play. UD sank 23-52 attempts from the field (44.2%, 4-19 from the three point area, and made 14-19 free throw attempts (73.7%). Chris Frazier led UD with 16 points and six rebounds. Derek Griffin finished with 12 points including eight rebounds and three blocks. Brandon Ferguson finished with nine points and missed just one free throw attempt, sinking 5-6 attempts.

The Spartans narrowly out rebounded Clarke 34-31 and forced them into committing 17 turnovers where UD would score 25 points. The Spartans took advantage of second chance opportunities and out scored Clarke 13-4.

UD will wrap-up their Thanksgiving weekend on Sunday, Nov. 25 when they continue play in the 2012 UW-Stout Quality Inn & Suites Turkey Shootout. Fans watching from home may have to link to a second stream site as UW-Stout's campus feed was experienceing some problems.
