Spartans Take Opener 81-69

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The University of Dubuque men's basketball opened the 2012-13 season on the road Friday night and captured the victory over Benedictine 81-69.
A trio of Spartans led in scoring with Chris Frasier finishing with a game high 16 points after sinking 4-8 attempts from the three point area. Jordan Townsend finished with 15 points and six rebounds as teammate Brandon Ferguson added 13 points, six rebounds, and five assists in the first game of the season.
UD sank 31-53 attempts from the field (58.5%) and out rebounded Benedictine 36-23. The Spartans will play Illinois College on Saturday as they will try to extend their season win total to 2-0.
