Spartans Defeated by IIAC Champs

DUBUQUE, IOWA - The University of Dubuque Women's Soccer wrapped up the 2012 regular season with a 3-1 loss at Loras College on Tuesday night. The Spartans must now turn their attention towards the Iowa Conference Tournament and Luther College. UD will host Luther on Saturday, October 27thin the first round rematch from last season. The Spartans finish the regular season with a 9-6-2 record and 4-2-1 in the Iowa Conference.
The Spartans goal came in the 76 minute of action after a Loras foul set up UD with a free kick from 25 yards out. Sophomore Trish Resner (Chicago Heights, Ill./Marian Catholic) stepped up and drilled home the shot to cut the Loras lead to 3-1. The goal was the first of Resners career at UD.
Goalkeeper Loisann DeLass (Albuquerque, N.M./Hohenfels) started the game in goal allowing three goals while recording four saves before leaving in the 78t minute after a collision on a Loras cross. Chelsea Hawkins (Maryville Heights, Mo./Pattonville) finished the game in goal.
UP NEXT: The Spartans will host Luther College (7-9-1, 2-5-0) in the first round of the Iowa Conference Post Season Tournament.
