DUBUQUE, IOWA – The University of Dubuque Women’s Soccer team continued its tremendous defense with their fourth straight shutout on Saturday, October 13th at Oyen Field. Loisann DeLass (Albuquerque, N.M./Hohenfels) extender her minutes in goal scoreless streak to 429:36 minutes, a new school record. UD is now 7-5-2 overall and 5-2-1 at home. The Spartans 3-1-1 record in the Iowa Conference is good for third place.

After a scoreless first period, the Spartans Megan Strawn (Carol Stream, Ill./Glenbard North) scored the games only goal in the 66th minute.  Katie Lynn (Fox River Grove, Ill./Barrington) sent a cross deep into the box that Strawn controlled and put into the net just under the cross bar.

DeLass improved to 5-0-0 on the season with the shutout of Coe. She finished with one save in the contest. The shutout lowered her goals against average to an IIAC leading 0.37. Her .923 save percentage is also tops in the Iowa Conference.

Strawn, Lynn, and Kelsey Graefen (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) each finished with a team high two shots. UD outshot Coe 12-3 and held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Following the game, seniors DeLass, Ashley Barwick (Appleton, Wis./Xavier), Jamie Strobel (Carlisle, Pa./AF North International), and Kayla Vaughan (Phoenix, Ariz./Desert Vista) were honored for all they have accomplished while at UD.
