BOX SCORE

DUBUQUE, IOWA – The University of Dubuque Women’s Soccer team has now shutout its last three opponents after beating Luther 1-0 on Wednesday night at Oyen Field. UD has not given up a goal in nearly 315 minutes. The Spartans are now 6-5-2 on the season. Dubuque’s 2-1-1 record in the Iowa Conference has them tied for third place.

With the clock winding down on a scoreless first half, the Spartans Megan Siepler (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) would find herself on a breakaway behind the Luther defense. With only the goalkeeper between her and the goal, Siepler would beat the keeper to put UD up 1-0. Kayla Vaughan (Phoenix, Ariz./Desert Vista) jump started the breakaway with a pass from near midfield that allowed Siepler to race behind the defense.

Senior goalkeeper Loisann DeLass (Albuquerque, N.M./Hohenfels) continued her stellar play in net with three saves in addition to recording her third consecutive shutout. DeLass has not allowed a goal in over 338 minutes, the longest streak since 2009 when Natalie Baker went over 367 minutes without allowing a goal.

The Spartans outshot the Norse 11-5 in the second period and 13-11 for the game.

UP NEXT: The Spartans will honor their four seniors during Homecoming on October 13th as they play Coe College (7-7-1, 1-3) at 1:00 pm. The seniors will be recognized for all that they have done while at UD between the Women’s and Men’s game.
